The Arxiu Històric de la Ciutat de Barcelona (AHCB) has one of the most important collections in Catalonia in terms of newspapers, magazines and clandestine newsletters, flyers and circulars. The documents were published in the city for decades and peaked at the end of the 60s and the 70s as symbols of popular organisation, trade unionism and anti-fascist assemblies.

The press collection held by the AHCB includes over a thousand titles. Whether published by political parties (half), workers’ associations (20%), universities, communities, feminists, pacifists or information agencies, these flyers represent another documentary and heritage resource in the process of being catalogued and digitalised.

These publications were produced underground or in exile, in precarious and often dangerous conditions. Their creation and dissemination helped provide a vertebra for anti-Francoist organisations and social movements, acting as a tool for agitation and propaganda, giving a broader social scope to protests and helping to build a culture of resistance to fascism.
