El Grec closes out with over a hundred thousand spectators
In an edition still conditioned by the pandemic, over half the spectators opted for the Grec Ciutat programme, while 40% chose the Grec Montjuïc and over nine thousand people attended other activities. The figures represent a return to a minimal normality compared to last year’s edition, despite audience capacities being limited to 70%, people having to wear face masks, respect safety measures and observe other Covid-19 measures, plus some cancellations and changes in format. Average attendances were above 80%, coming out at 86% in the case of Grec Montjuïc and some activities, including maximum attendance for the performed installation at the CCCB.
This year’s edition also stands out for a strong African focus, with debates and talks highlighting the diverse and plural reality around us. The festival also included a hundred more shows and activities, and in more locations, paying special attention to projects headed by women, which accounted for 55% of the programme.
