The municipal contribution was traditionally 50%, but to give shops and businesses a helping hand during the uncertainty created during the pandemic, the decision was taken to increase this and now the measure will continue to apply, providing further support for local commerce.

During the latest session by the board of commerce, there was also an explanation of the new subsidies for commerce and restaurants. Part of the Pla Endreça, these subsidies offer 400 euros for each shutter cleaned of graffiti, with an overall budget of 500,000 euros set aside for this.

The application period for these subsidies will run until 13 June. Applications must be from retailers’ associations or shopping hubs representing at least ten establishments. Subsidies are for the cleaning of shutters and/or the application of anti-graffiti coatings, with each establishment entitled to receive subsidies for a maximum of three shutters, with the commitment to keeping them clean for a whole year.

The subsidies come in addition to the digital transformation of shops, which has a total budget of 500,000 euros and provides support for initiatives improving the digital maturity of establishments, plus the subsidies for protecting and improving the urban landscape. The latter include the improvement of the image of small commerce, particularly iconic establishments.
