Beat Barcelona is back as the city’s space at the Mobile World Congress
Beat Barcelona has a place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) for the second year running. The section promotes opportunities for culture, recreation, gastronomy, technology and networking in the city, within the technology congress.Using the slogans “The place to be”, “The place to chill” and “The place to meet”, Beat Barcelona has been conceived as an environment to introduce congress visitors to the possibilities offered by the city to attract investment and set up offices and research centres. The space also outlines the city’s backing for innovation and its appeal for people to set up and work here or pay a visit.
The different parts of Barcelona Beat combine activities and networking during the day with tech experiences and music from Sónar, Cruïlla and MIRA Digital Arts Festival in the evenings.
The section occupies 2,765 square metres of outdoor space. It is located on the rooftop terrace by the northern entrance to Fira Gran Via 2, and its design recreating the Barcelona coastline is the work of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC).
One of the most unique spaces at Beat Barcelona will be the Àgora, a space devoted to technology and giving a stage to initiatives by Barcelona Activa, International City Promotion, the Municipal Institute for Information Technology, B:SM and others.
The MWC is the leading event for the tech and connectivity industry and has helped give Barcelona a key role in the global tech ecosystem. This year’s MWC is on from 27 February to 2 March.
