The 11th Barcelona International Community Day has over 60 activities in store for the city’s expatriate professionals. There will be information sessions, panel discussions, workshops and networking events, as well as other cultural and entertainment activities.

The activities will mostly be conducted in English and will include the participation of nearly 90 speakers and experts from a wide range of nationalities. They will take place on 28 September, from 10 am to 7 pm in the Barcelona Maritime Museum. Find out more about them.

A helping hand to settle in

Newer members of the international community will find a variety of activities to help them settle and integrate into the city. For instance, with Entre Trámites, they can explore tax issues and learn about their obligations and benefits. Meanwhile, Banc Sabadell will talk about the property market in Barcelona and what you need to know about buying and financing a property in the city.

Hospital Clínic de Barcelona will deliver a presentation on the public and private healthcare systems in Catalonia to help clarify the differences between the two. And, of course, there will also be a focus on mental health and managing the emotions associated with moving to a new country. Eres Relocation will address emotional challenges with practical and useful advice.

Those moving to the city with their families will also be interested in hearing about their children’s adjustment and choosing the right school. Barcelona City Council will hold a session to guide them through the process, covering the local education system and offering practical information and advice for making the best choice.

Working and doing business in Barcelona

Professional integration is crucial when moving to a new city, which is why it will be a key focus of the event. International professionals will find a wide range of activities designed to encourage entrepreneurship, including a session on navigating different work visas and residence permits, along with advice for starting a business.

Those looking to launch their business in the city should not miss the session on funding for new professional projects, organised by Impulse4Women. They will also find advice on starting a business and information on legal requirements, administrative procedures and more at the session hosted by Barcelona Activa.

For job seekers, the European Chambers of Commerce in Barcelona will provide insights into labour market trends, in-demand profiles and the skills most valued by local employers. The event will also offer resources for improving CVs, preparing for job interviews and acquiring new skills.

Keep in mind that Barcelona is one of Europe’s leading technology hubs. The Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation will discuss the city’s tech hubs and present some of the key figures who will explain the type of talent they are looking to recruit for their teams. Science also plays a prominent role in Barcelona’s professional landscape, so Pompeu Fabra University will host a session to share the scientific discoveries and advancements being made in the city, as well as the opportunities in this field.

Time to make new connections!

Barcelona International Community Day is the perfect opportunity to meet people and connect with members of the international and local communities. To support this process, various activities will be organised, including a speed networking event for professional women, to perfect their pitch and expand their network.

French-speaking members will also have the chance to join a networking session in French to connect with others involved in Barcelona’s cultural and business scene. And entrepreneurs will also benefit from a highly dynamic session designed to rapidly expand their professional network.

Access to all activities is free with prior registration for the event.
