As from 3 July, the X1 bus service will include four new stops to improve intermodal options, provide service in the 22@ and get closer to universities in the area.

The new stops will mean better connections with the metro stops of Glòries (L1) and Encants (L2), plus greater cover and connections with other bus services (H12 in the direction of Verneda, line 7 in the direction of Fòrum, V23 in the direction of Can Marcet and line 192 in the direction of Hospital de Sant Pau).

The new stops are at:
-Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes (with Av. Diagonal)
-Carrer de Badajoz (Glòries interchange)
-Carrer de Roc Boronat
-Carrer d’Aragó (with Carrer dels Enamorats)

The new route means the service will no longer include the Castillejos-Encants stop (code: 9803).

First express service in Barcelona

The first semi-direct XPRESBus service came into operation in September 2021 to connect Pl. Francesc Macià and Pl. Glòries with the centre of Barcelona. One of the things that sets the XPRESBus service apart is that it makes very few stops and uses reserved bus lanes for much of its route, cutting journey times.

In this respect, the X1 service has proved a success, covering most of its journeys at a commercial speed of over 15 km/h, some 40% quicker that the average for TMB bus lines. It is also a completely sustainable service as it uses hydrogen powered vehicles.
