The 2024-2025 school year begins in 105 municipal ‘escoles bressol’ (nursery schools)

The school year has begun at the municipal 'escoles bressol' (nursery schools), which will welcome 8,845 children aged 0 to 3 years. 4,646 places were available, covering 55% of the demand. This September, municipal family care centres will also open, offering 1,400 places in 26 locations across the city. In January, a new centre is expected to join the network at the Escola Bressol Pere Calafell in the Sant Martí district. The number of children that were admitted with reserved places due to educational needs was 230, 20% more than the previous school year. Follow-up and support at the schools is provided by an inclusive education team and a mobile Special Education Intervention (SEI) service with special education teachers and nursing assistants.

The Escola Bressol Germanetes continues to offer a flexible timetable in the L’Eixample district. There is a morning group from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and an afternoon group from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, each with 13 places. There are also 5 all-day groups from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, which include a morning drop-off service.

Summer maintenance and improvement projects

This summer, the schools took advantage of the break to improve the climate control at 60 locations and renovate and upgrade the playgrounds at 7 of them. The city invested €1,630,000 in these improvements.
