Flamenco jazz, funk and soul, gypsy, pop-soul. You will find all this and more in the programme that a jazz club with a history stretching back more than 50 years has prepared for the 2017 Grec Festival in Barcelona.
Initially one of Amy Winehouse’s backing singers, Zalon Thompson ended up becoming one of the ill-fated British singer’s right-hand men. Last year we discovered him here thanks to his magnificent association with the Gramophone All Stars. Together, they were a success at major festivals and paid a special tribute to the greats of soul music, including Amy. This time he will be performing a more personal set at the Jamboree, accompanied by a band put together for the occasion featuring some of the most accomplished musicians on the country’s soul-jazz scene.
