Faithful to the festival's commitment to young artists, the Grec brings to Barcelona the production that was awarded the Quim Masó prize in 2012. In Victoria Falls, two characters with conflicting worldviews clash in a contemporary tragedy that is an ode to the risk of living.
Unemployment, failure, prejudice, lies, perversity... This play deals with all these themes, but also with the need to be loved and recognised, to accept uncertainty. All through the prism of a disillusioned journalist and a playwright living from hand to mouth. Both see life in their own way, but their meeting causes each to question his own horizons and have another think about life. The journalist, the playwright and the latter’s wife and son are willing to do whatever is necessary in order to start again, even though, perhaps, there is no way back. Sandra Simó, a young author who has worked with the likes of Josep Maria Mestres, Joan Ollé, Roberto Romei, David Selvas and Àlex Mañas, presents a piece in which dance, music and words do not sketch out portrait of a dreamed existence, but embody a song to life as it is lived.
