Virtuosity and versatility are not mutually exclusive. This is demonstrated by a guitar hero who visits Barcelona to present the most important album of his career: Passion & Warfare.
Those most in the know consider this exceptional guitarist a kind of musical alchemist. What else but the magic in his music can explain how Steve Vai has managed to sell more than fifteen million albums, win three Grammy awards and continue racking up nominations for these prestigious music prizes. The great man now comes to Barcelona to present Passion & Warfare, a reissue of his second solo studio album, first released in 1990, and which, amongst other gems, contains a legendary instrumental track: For the Love of God. Vai is a genius on his own, but he also shines when he blends his talent with that of other great stars. Perhaps you have seen him perform at G3 (an annual event organised by fellow guitarist Joe Satriani to bring together the world’s finest axmen), with musicians like Frank Zappa, or as a member of ensembles from Alcatrazz to The David Lee Roth Band and Whitesnake. In 2012, Vai recorded his twelfth solo album, The Story of Light, and in 2015 Sony/Legacy put out Stillness In Motion - Vai Live in L.A., the recording of a memorable concert on the Story of Light World Tour. Now we can see and hear him live on a short break from the tour that brings him to Europe in July, sharing the bill with Joe Satriani and The Aristocrats, the band formed by Guthrie Govan, Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller.
