This collection of Rabih Mroué’s video creations can be viewed from the prism of different strategies to approach the archive, the limits between fiction and reality, and the tension between micro-histories and dominant narratives. Shooting images is a play on words where “shooting weapons” and “shooting pictures” form part of the same conflict, particularly when we consider the performative capacity of images.
We will see an audiovisual collection that includes Face A/ Face B (10 minutes), With Soul, With Blood (10 minutes), Shooting Images (9 minutes), Chalk outline (2 minutes) and Cheers To Our Wishes (16'30 minutes).
Through a film series at the Filmoteca and two audiovisual conferences/performances at MACBA, Focus Rabih Mroué offers an additional sample of the creative universe of the Lebanese artist, who will be presenting the performance Riding on a Cloud at Grec 2023 (17 and 18 July at the Teatre Lliure-Espai Lliure). Mroué will also take part in an artists’ workshop during his stay in Barcelona, as part of the Can Mamella Artistic Training and Research Summer School (13 and 14 July at Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació).
