One of the most popular singer-songwriters in Britain today presents songs from his latest album in Barcelona. Scott Matthews recorded Home Part I, released in 2014, at a studio in his home. The chance to see a leading acoustic folk singer live.
The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, Joe Satriani... This singer-songwriter from Wolverhampton in the English Midlands, mentions many names when discussing the influences on his music. What he learnt from them all was the art of writing songs, a talent that won him the 2007 Ivor Novello Prize for Best Song for Elusive, a single from his debut album, Passing Strange, released in 2006. After supporting Foo Fighters on their Skin and Bones acoustic tour, Matthews released two more albums, including Elsewhere, full of well-rounded songs. Finally, he locked himself away in his Midlands home, installing a studio and recording the tracks that form Home Part I, an album that saw the light in 2014. On it, Matthews experiments and expands his musical horizons, producing a sound that is more minimalist than his earlier efforts. The album is rich in intimate songs, inspired not only by Matthews’ own experiences, but also by newspaper articles, literary works and even painters like René Magritte. A concert featuring one of the most interesting artists on the UK folk scene today.
