How do you reach spectators in the most direct and innovative way? Many theatre directors ask themselves this question, which is why they are always on the lookout for texts and projects that allow them to experiment and involve the audience in a new theatrical experience. Sixto Paz has found one of those texts: the story of a family that is looking for answers after a cataclysm.
The man has written a book that predicts everything: from the place a black hole will appear to the words we will say in the next few minutes. Perhaps he is confused, but his ability to manipulate his followers remains intact. He has called them to a place where they will sit and show their faith in something that, in point of fact, nobody is really sure exists. Do you have faith in him and in what he says? In this production, where the audience plays a decisive role, each spectator will find a printed copy of the prophetic book on their seat, written by the protagonist. During the function, the audience and the actors will turn its pages together.
British author, director and actor Tim Crouch wrote the text, yet another example of why he is considered to be one of the most innovative playwrights on the British scene, along with Sarah Kane and Caryl Churchill. Adler & Gibb, The Author, An Oak Tree and Beginners are just some of his other creations. Pau Roca brings to the stage Salvació Total Imminent Immediata Terrestre i Col·lectiva [Total Immediate Collective Imminent Terrestrial Salvation]. This actor and director, trained in dramatic art and film directing, created the Sixto Paz production company in 2013. Among other productions, his company has mixed a completely poetic text with contemporary circus (Tender Napalm, Grec 2017), turned a documentary text into theatrical fiction (Así bailan las putas, Grec 2019) and has made spectators participate in a particularly precise dramatic mechanism, in Las cosas excepcionales (2018).
