The success of Rhum, a show which premiered at Grec 2014 as a tribute to the late-lamented clown Joan Montanyès, "Monti", led to the creation of a new company, Rhum & Cia. Roll up and see the second part of their €oeclown bilogy".
That first show was an enormous hit and went on tour as well as being staged over two spells at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia. We are speaking of Rhum, the production that Joan Montanyès was working on in 2013 and was later taken up by Martí Torras Mayneris, Jordi Martínez, Joan Arqué, Pep Pascual and Roger Julià in collaboration with Guillem Albà. The musician, clown and plastic artist Mauro Paganinitakes over from Albà to introduce a new component to an “instable” clown company that follows the lines laid down in Rhum and stage the second part of a clown diptych. Although the new show shares the same characters and ingredients as the earlier work, and features plenty of comedy, puns and music, all wrapped up in great tenderness and feeling, Rhumia stands alone, and is quite independent of the earlier work. Classic turns and many new numbers created by the company in a show that will delight young and old alike and is certain to equal – at least – the success of the original Rhum.
Coproduction: Grec 2016 Festival de Barcelona, Velvet Events and Teatre Lliure.
