Under the name Amparanoia, Amparo Sánchez devoted her first album to the songs of Antonio Machín. Now, in the "Off the Record" season, she goes back to her roots for a one-off concert with an ensemble that pays tribute to the great Cuban artist.
She made her debut in 1997 with “El poder de Machín” and bowed out in 2008 at the end of a tour in which the story of Amparanoia came to an end so that Amparo Sánchez could take the stage. Under this name, the artist has created a new persona, teaming up with the American band Calexico (“Tucson-Habana”, 2010) and the vocal talents of Bebe and Arianna Puello, amongst others (“Alma de cantora”, 2012). At the Grec, however, Amparo will look back, tipping her cap to early Amparanoia and paying tribute, once more, to the musical mastery and talent of the great Antonio Machín. To do so, she could have no better musical travelling companions than Jazz Machín, a Catalan band formed by Celeste Alías, Santi Careta, David Soler and Oriol Roca, who share her love for the Cuban musician’s work. The quartet perform a successful live tribute to Machín, and will shortly release an album based on this show. In short, a unique chance to hear the voice of Amparo Sánchez backed by the jazz and electronic sound of this band in an emotive, surprising and exclusive experience.
