The Raval Cuir variety theatre is a project from Arnau Itinerant and the Ateneu del Raval with a very clear mission: to rescue the living memory of the queer artists who were, and still are, protagonists of a popular and dissident art that also played a fundamental role in the history of the Arnau Theatre. An intergenerational gathering of artists (with a special emphasis on the trans community) that recovers and breathes new life into the immaterial heritage of the cabarets and popular culture of the Raval and Paral-lel area.
In this Molinex double bill we will also attend a performance by Miguel Andrés, specially conceived for El Molino. The work of this artist from Yecla (Murcia) revolves around performance and video art, and turns his own body into a transgressive weapon of political and social activism. Iconoclastic, reflective and a researcher of the human condition, his work is at the same time both painstaking and full of highly emotional creations with which he shakes consciences and formulates a strong critique of capitalism and the consumer society.
Molinex is a celebration of diversity through performativity linked to the performing arts, music, performance and rescuing memory. As part of the Barcelona Grec 2022 Festival, this is a “queer” rogue’s offering With El Molino as the stage and El Paral·lel as the context.
A Grec Festival 2022 co-production.
