If anyone were to define his style as “trova-jazz-salsa-popelectrofunk-imba-fusion”, Raúl Paz would just laugh. This Cuban singer announced himself as an artist after writing his first songs at the tender age of ten. Since then, he has gone far: from Pinar del Río to Havana, from Havana to Paris, and from Paris to the whole wide world. Along the way, he helped to found the group Orishas, and played with the likes of Óscar de León, Rubén Blades, Tito Puente, Viktor Lazlo, etc, making a considerable name for himself and eading the renewal of Cuban music. Now, he is engaged in using his art to build a third way for Cuba, a future of “reconciliation and acceptance of differences”. In the meantime, he was overjoyed recently to return to his homeland, where he had not performed since his youth, to give three extraordinary concerts now immortalised in the live album En vivo!
