Tigers that fall from the heavens, the Fontana di Trevi turned into an atomic mushroom... Get ready for a crazy show packed with Dadaesque humour.
Respect for the artistes you will see on stage, amid their post-apocalyptic set: this French company’s show was awarded the 2010 Young European Circus Talents Prize. And no wonder: Popcorn Machine is a veritable flight of fantasy that takes the circus arts as the starting point but is also inspired by dance, the pole vault … even the blouses worn by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel! And such diverse sources of inspiration serve to concoct a spectacle that will at times make you laugh, at others smile and at yet others freeze the smile on your lips. Four actors confront extreme and impossible situations, running the gamut of ambiguous emotions, accompanied by music in which the cello’s notes merge with the frenetic, rhythmic sound of a sewing machine. In short, Popcorn Machine is a turbulent collage that fuses circus, music and performance.
