One of the brightest stars in the musical universe lights up a stellar Latin American music event in Barcelona. Oscar D'León is the king of salsa and is guaranteed to get everyone dancing.
This Venezuelan artist is one of the greats of salsa music, along with sadly lost stars like Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. Oscar D’León, however, is still in top form: in 2013 he won a Latin Grammy, and he continues to tour the world with his shows, dancing, singing and leading the band. As a young man, he was enthralled by such sounds as son, salsa, guaguancó, guaracha and bolero. At first, he combined his musical career, playing bass in a night-club, with work as a taxi and bus driver, but when he opened his mouth and started to sing a new chapter in the history of salsa began to be written. And that chapter is still not closed, because audiences around the world still love to hear Oscar D’León perform such great classics as Yo quisiera, Como un volcán, Llorarás and many more. And it is no surprise to find him headlining a jazz festival, for it was long ago that he first began to renew and refine his music by adding touches of Latin jazz. A veritable monster of Latin music comes to Barcelona to head a bill that also features an outstanding support band: the BCN Salsa All Stars. This ensemble, comprising a rotating line-up of twenty-five musicians from the city's top salsa bands, will present the show Saócondal.
