Danza Néctar

A group of environmentalist musicians from Barcelona play the role of pollinating insects in the Mediterranean ecosystems represented at the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona.

The group Ominira is a guitar, trumpet and electronic music trio founded in Barcelona that explores the natural world with what they refer to as wild rhythms.

In their musical show Danza Néctar [Nectar Dance], they talk about the frenzy of pollination, the beauty of the natural processes it involves and its significance for our own survival. The creation takes the form of a sound installation to accompany each of the biomes represented at the Jardí Botànic. These biomes will thus become settings for reflection on the importance of arthropods’ services to ecosystems. An exploration-based experience in contact with nature that is also a different way of listening to music.

The musical performance of Ominira’s exhibition “Danza Néctar” is available to view in the botanical gardens of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona as part of Creació i Museus, a series of performance pieces in which artists from a variety of disciplines come into contact with Barcelona’s museums and cultural institutions and interact with their facilities and collections in a series of theatre, dance, circus or music productions.

A co-production of Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de creació and the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona.
