The delicate, emotive music created by this Icelandic multi-instrumentalist has captivated audiences around the world, with its mixture of pianos, strings and electronica that successfully fuses classical and modern sounds.
Born just outside Reykjavík not yet thirty years ago, this composer, performer and producer has already become a key figure in new music. Moreover, his influence is spreading, not only amongst indie fans, but also into the world of film and TV. In 2011, he composed the soundtrack to Sam Levinson’s Another Happy Day, whilst in 2013 his song So Close, featuring Arnór Dan Arnarson, was included in the UK series Broadchurch. It was in 2013, too, that he thrilled the audience at the Sónar Festival of Barcelona with his live act, dipping into a wide range of influences – from electronica minimalism – to create his unique, personal sonic atmospheres. Now he returns to the Catalan capital featuring grand piano, vocals, a multi instrumentalist, violin and cello to perform tracks from his latest album, For Now I Am Winter. Magnificent pieces, at once modern and classical, that confirm Arnalds as one of the most outstanding talents on the contemporary Icelandic music scene.
