Àlex Rigola

Scenic poem about axiety for twenty spectators.

A forest at night. A girl in a Seat 600. She has the radio on, talking about a certain Ophelia, who has appeared dead in a lake. Everything points to the suspicion of suicide. Nothing unusual in a world where a million people commit suicide each year.

The girl in the car picks up a flute and tries to play an extract from Tristan and Isolde. She doesn't succeed. Yet another stumble in her unbearable lightness of being. Perhaps similar to the one Shakespeare is trying to bring us closer through the words of Hamlet.

Ofèlia (Panic Attack) is the latest creation from Àlex Rigola, a leading light in the theatre who has worked as a director, a playwright and a producer. He has directed the Teatre Lliure, the theatre section of the Venice Biennale and the Teatros del Canal in Madrid. Considered to be one of the current figures of Catalan theatre with most international recognition, he came to the Grec in 2007 with 2666, a memorable staging of Roberto Bolaño's novel featuring Pablo Ley, , and in 2021, with a free version of The Seagull, by Anton Chekhov.

A small audience (20 spectators/performance) will have the privilege of seeing the performance in the same venue where it was created, the former Can Trinxet factory in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

A Heartbreak Hotel, Titus Andrònic, SL, and Temporada Alta coproduction.
With the support of the Catalan Ministry of Culture and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council.
A show created in residence at Can Trinxet in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat.

Audiences should note that strobe lighting effects will be used at one point in the show.
