A journey through memory, paying homage to the sacrifice and struggle of a woman committed to defending justice, democratic freedoms and human rights.
Neus Català i Pallejà was born in 1915 into a family of farmers in Guiamets (Priorat). A year after the outbreak of the Civil War, she moved to Barcelona and became involved in the fight against fascism. The Republican defeat forced her into exile in France. In World War Two, she worked with the French Resistance during the German occupation. She was arrested by the Nazis and deported to the Ravensbrück and Holleischen extermination camps. There she remained until the liberation and thereafter she devoted her life to remembering her fellow captives that she survived and with whom she shared the horror, but also solidarity. Carme Martí wrote a novel based on her life, and this has now been adapted for the stage.
