One of the most transgressive choreographers on the Catalan contemporary dance scene today speaks to us, in positive terms, about the crisis that has hit us all so hard and how a critical moment like the present can open the door to a world of possibilities.
Decline, desolation, loss… These are concepts that, in the concept of the crisis affecting Europe, have become part of our living landscape. However, loss can also be opportunity. That is how Sol Picó sees things in a production in which fantasy and the absurd open a door to hope. Sol presents such pathetic or insignificant characters as a flea that urge us to escape from an asphyxiating situation and to ask ourselves whether we are moving forward or running away. Using a choreographer language that is full of surprises, these characters may dance a highland fling in a sea of refuse or set off to sea in a bottle in search of a better future, or try to use magic to disappear… Pure poetry to speak to us of a present that is all too often lacking in beauty and idealism.
