Rabih Mroué uses different on-site documents (personal videos and photos, as well as those from other sources, newspaper clippings and eyewitness reports) to reconstruct and reclaim Lebanon’s lost landscape.
He questions the truthfulness and coherence of records, as well as examining how valid a reconstructed “reality” can be, through a complex system of winding narratives.
Through a film series at the Filmoteca and two conferences/audiovisual performances at MACBA, Focus Rabih Mroué offers an additional sample of the Lebanese artist’s creative universe, who will be presenting the performance Riding on a Cloud at Grec 2023 (17 and 18 July at the Teatre Lliure-Espai Lliure). Mroué will also take part in an artists’ workshop during his stay in Barcelona, as part of the Can Mamella Artistic Training and Research Summer School (13 and 14 July at Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació).
