Luciana Souza feels equally at ease when singing jazz or classical music, samba or world music. Shortlisted for a Grammy on three occasions, she has a reputation for jumping over music borders, and that reputation will be on show tonight, when she will be joined on stage by Romero Lubambo, a talented guitar player who shares with Souza a passion for mixing Brazilian music with American jazz.
Born in Sao Paulo, the first time Luciana Souza entered a recording studio she was three years old. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she currently teaches at the Manhattan School of Music. He has recorded thirty albums.
Brilliant guitarist, Romero Lubambo was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955. In 1985 he settled in New York. He has recorded albums with artists such as Wynton Marsalis or Paquito D'Rivera. Composer as well as performer, he is a member, along with Nilson Matta and Duduka da Fonseca, of the Brazilian jazz trio Trio Da Paz.
