Tremenda / Herencia/ Desvarío

Experimental flamenco and guitar are the stars of the first day of a festival that turns the Plaça Mayor in Nou Barris into a stage, organised by the El Dorado association in collaboration with the Nou Barris District.

The Desvarío festival is back at the Grec and will be kicking off with a new feel. Instead of opening this flamenco show with a conventional cantaor or cantaora, here they've decided to go for one of the biggest names on the experimental flamenco scene: Rosario La Tremendita, who will be presenting her show Tremenda. She's known as the punk cantaora, both for her attitude and staging and for her look. Transgressive? She says she’s not trying to be, just following a process of natural evolution of her art.

Up next will be the exceptional guitar of Rafael Riqueni. In the words of José Manuel Gamboa: “Rafael is a groundbreaking, magical musician; he's opened up a new harmonic and conceptual path for flamenco, unlike anything that's been done until now”. Born in Triana in 1962, his career has been marked by a contemporary way of playing and a lyrical sensitivity that is able to link the greats of Spanish music with the leading flamenco guitarists.

Desvarío is the heir to the Flamenc a Nou Barris festival, which was founded in 2000 and came to an end after 17 editions. Now El Dorado S. F. B., in collaboration with Nou Barris District Technical Services, have taken over the management and leadership of the new festival. El Dorado is a cultural association founded in 2007 with the aim of creating a stable venue for the promotion and dissemination of flamenco culture in Barcelona based on an understanding of flamenco as a modern popular art.

A co-production of the Nou Barris District and the El Dorado Sociedad Flamenca de Barcelonesa.

With the support of the 2023 Barcelona Grec Festival.
