An innovative company that breaks barriers between text, choreography and visual arts debuts at the Grec Festival in Barcelona with a performance that talks about space and time based on the idea of a big square.
Pablo Gisbert and Tanya Beyeler in 2010 signed the show The King's Story defeated by boredom, their first long piece, thus marking the beginning of a company devoted to the investigation of new scenic arts that escaped the traditional division by genders. Among his latest shows, always brilliant, unconventional, visceral and with a remarkable philosophical content are Guerrilla (2016) and, now, La Plaza, a performance of which we saw a preview in the last edition of the Sâlmon festival, in the Mercat de les Flors (MC: Las historias naturales), but which, in fact, was released this year at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels. The public of this festival has already seen a performance that is located in a large square full of monuments and human beings, protagonists of living paintings that illustrate the present and the future, and about violence that not only is it part of our daily life, but also, it is a driving force that has been moving the Universe since the first moments of existence. El Conde de Torrefiel becomes a stage in a large square where the future is shown as an unknown and unpredictable time in the eyes of the spectators by means of a series of unexpected situations. A scenic reflection on the future, the immutability of time and violence as the basis of existence.
A co-production by el Grec 2018 Festival de Barcelona, el Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), El Conde de Torrefiel, Vooruit (Gante), Mousonturm (Frankfurt), Wiener Festwochen (Vienna), Teatro Maria Matos & Alkantara Festival (Lisbon), Festival de Marseille (Marseille), Triennale dell'Arte (Milan), Festival d'Automne & Centre Pompidou (Paris), HAU (Berlin), Zurcher Theaterspektakel (Zurich), Black Box Theater (Oslo).
