Life, music and the world of legendary Camarón de la Isla are the inspiration for a show featuring an electric band that pay tribute to the king of flamenco.
The show’s author is Jaco Abel, a sensitive, innovative Barcelona musician who has always been surrounded by the flamenco greats, and now directs our eyes and ears towards a genius who renewed flamenco, particularly when, in 1979, he released his masterpiece, La leyenda del tiempo. That album was a lesson in pure traditional flamenco which nevertheless introduced a new sound based on innovative arrangements featuring percussion, keyboards and electric guitars. In this show, Abel now reworks the songs on that iconic album, played by an all electric flamenco band in a performance that also adds a visual dimension to the music: projections of works in which the Gypsy artist Lita Cabellut portrays the master. Camarón, then; a treat for both the ears and the eyes.
