A singular artist who has successfully created his own style based on the fusion of different performing arts brings a story to Barcelona for both adults and children.
Magic, fantasy and phantasmagorical atmospheres invade the stage in this latest work by an artist who has invented a unique, personal language by fusing different performing arts. Words are not required in a theatrical universe where the magic of acrobatics, movement and sounds rules supreme. With these ingredients Thierrée constructs a story addressed to both adults and children, one that explores family relationships in a dreamlike setting which suggests a world inhabited by anachronistic technologies and futuristic inventions from an alternative past.
Since founding his own company in 1998, the French acrobat, musician, dancer and actor James Thierrée has created such legendary shows as Symphonie du hanneton, the unforgettable La Veillée des abysses (presented at the TNC in 2007), Au revoir parapluie, Raoul (TNC, 2011) and Tabac rouge (which opened the Terrassa New Trends Festival in 2014). These are all stage works bursting with magic that combine the virtuosity required by the circus arts with the grace demanded by choreographic performance, all enveloped in mysterious, melancholy, dazzling atmospheres. Thierrée has also made films in France, and in the field of the theatre he has worked with such outstanding artists as Peter Greenaway, Robert Wilson and the pianist and composer Carles Santos.
