La famiglia dell'antiquario

First performed in 1750, the principal character in La famiglia dell’antiquario is Count Anselmo Terrazzani, an elderly man who, addicted to collecting antiques, squanders the dowry provided by the father of his daughter-in-law, a merchant. The themes of this play, directed here by Lluís Pasqual, are the decline of the nobility and the emergence of the thriving bourgeoisie. The production was first performed at the Venice Biennale to mark the 300th anniversary of Goldoni’s birth.
