Once again the jazz club at plaza Reial joins the Festival with a selectin of great artists. Some represent the best NorthAmerican jazz and others are noted for its extraordinary vitality of the Barcelona jazz.
A jazz legend passes through Plaza Reial. Barron became a remarkable figure in the jazz world when in 1959 he debuted with the drummer Philly Joe Jones. In New York, he made his name with musicians such as Yusef Lateef, James Moody and, especially, Dizzy Gillespie, with whom he started working in 1963. Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Henderson, Buddy Rich, Chet Baker and Stan Getz are some of the names of the long list of artists who have requested the services of Kenny Barron. As an interpreter, composer and arranger, he stands out for his ability to hypnotize the audience with an elegant play of sensitive melodies and magnetic rhythms. At the Grec Festival in Barcelona, we will be able to enjoy his art from a short distance and in the most intimate format of all: a solo piano. A privilege.
