A legendary guitarist on the instrumental rock scene returns, once more demonstrating his prowess on a tour in which he will showcase tracks from his most recent album, Unstoppable Momentum, his fourteenth studio recording.
Joe Satriani is a legend for guitarists around the world, both amateur and professional alike. For, not only is he one of the most complete and eclectic musicians around, but he has also worked as a guitar instructor, his pupils including Steve Vai. A virtuoso who makes guitar playing look as easy as breathing, Satriani has achieved star status in the field of instrumental rock thanks to such albums as Surfin’ With the Alien, his breakthrough international hit, and, later, Flyin' In a Blue Dream and The Extremist. Always keen to play with the very best, in 1996 he embarked on G3, teaming up with two other outstanding guitarists in what became practically an annual event. In 2008, moreover, he formed Chickenfoot, a supergroup that plays a fusion of different rock styles, with a line-up including Sammy Hagar (former Van Halen singer) on vocals, Michael Anthony on bass and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums. Despite all this activity, moreover, Satriani still finds time to make solo albums. These include 2013’s Unstoppable Momentum, which the band will showcase at Barts concert hall. Oli Brown, the great hope of british guitar, will open the concert.
