One of the great Latin music events takes place in Barcelona for the fourth time. On this occasion, the concert bill features Colombian music with black roots and a Chilean outfit playing New Cumbia.
As in previous editions of the Salsa & Latin Jazz Festival, BARTS will once more be filled with Latin American rhythm, dance and joy. All this is assured by the Colombian band Herencia de Timbiquí, whose music fuses traditional Afro-American sounds with contemporary urban beats. Winners of the Silver Seagull award at the 2013 Viña del Mar International Song Contest with a tune entitled Amanece, Herencia de Timbiquí blend black sounds from the Pacific seaboard with rhythms ranging from rock and salsa to hip hop, all enlivened by an instrument typical of the Colombian Pacific: the marimba de chonta.
They will be accompanied by Chico Trujillo, a Chilean New Cumbia band that has become one of the most popular acts in their country. Chico Trujillo fuse classical Cumbia with elements from bolero, Latin American and Balkan music and even reggae. Their fame has spread beyond the Chilean border and they have played all over Europe and the USA.
