Can an imitation end up being better than the actual original? This is the question posed by two of the youngest and most valued, without complex innovators of the current Catalan scene, accompanied by an unexpected cast.
The playwright William Shakespeare created the character of Falstaff, an English Knight, who, in Henry IV, where he appears for the first time, is a coward who boasts of victories he has not won. He is purely false, maybe for this reason his name and his miseries inspire this production jointly directed by Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs, two stage directors who have created productions such as La monja enterrada en vida and Atraco, paliza y muerte en Agbanäspach, Los Esqueiters (Grec 2015) or Mammón. Here they tell the story of André Féikiévich, an art forger obsessed with capturing to perfection the essence of the works he forges. Driven by this obsession, he goes to extraordinary lengths to explore his work. His fraudulent acts provoke the fury of Boris Kaczynski, who in his attempt to capture André, realises that the clues he is following have been falsified to such a level that it will be impossible to distinguish between reality and fake. The show brings an unusual cast to the stage. In addition to the performances of Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs themselves, we can also see the comic Jango Edwards, the Lithuanian actress Diana Sakalauskaite, the musician and actor Victor Lauwers, cofounder of the Belgian company Kuiperskaai, the French actor Naby Dakhli, performing artist Thomas Kasebacher, dancer Sau-Ching Wong and the actress Laura Weissmahr.
A co-production of Grec 2018 Festival de Barcelona,Teatre Nacional de Catalunya and Associació Uns Nois que fan Teatre.
