Shall we talk about capitalism? An artist wholly given over to experimentation invites us to do so at table, whilst sampling the delicious Chilean delicacies that he has made for us.
This is a performance, a piece of documentary theatre and, also, a meal. For Txalo Toloza-Fernández offers us something to eat while we discuss serious matters. Capitalism is the theme of the show, which analyses its development in the early decades of the twentieth century and its close relations with the arms industry, mining, finance and even the arts. There are two versions of Extraños mares arden, one for the stage and the other presented at IPAM, in which the work becomes a meal in order to employ the evocative power of the memory and the imagination that infuse the dishes served at two tables. At one table, the work will be presented in English, whilst Spanish will be spoken at the other.
The work is by Txalo Toloza-Fernández, an author who defies classification and is a member of La Sauna International group and has worked with the Roger Bernat Company and the performer and dancer Sònia Gómez.
