El valor de res

Cia. Pagans

Does the space where we read a book change the way we interpret it? Can one read during a show? If you want answers, or if you are wondering whether literature and technology are opposed to each other, come and find out in this multidisciplinary travelling show.

More than your run-of-the-mill production or show, El valor de res promises to be a multidisciplinary performance experience as it incorporates the performing arts, literature, technology and nature, with the act of reading a book as the core theme. How is that possible? You will be invited to walk through a natural space in the city. At some point, you will find a book and a chair waiting for you. Sit down and - that's right! - read. You’ll do so in a group, in a kind of quiet coven devoted to the memory of the women who used to meet secretly in remote places, free from the presence of men, to share knowledge, especially on the world of plants, who ended up being labelled witches.

A book, as a ‘plant memory’ in the words of Umberto Eco, is the theme of an experience in which the spectators sit down to read, knowing that anything might happen around them. All with the unique language of a company that proposes scenarios in which tradition, technology and ecological awareness, concepts that initially seem very distant, find common ground, forms of coexistence and ways of enhancing one another. The proposal uses technology as a narrative element, while valuing the natural context and challenging the audience both collectively and individually.

It is the new proposal from the Cia. Pagans, a performance collective which has particularly strong ties to technology after turning mobile phones and nature into the accomplices of spectators in works like Paraules que trenquen ossos, which won the 23rd Performing Arts Critic's Award.
