An orchestra that plays itself, or nearly. Four great composers perform their work, accompanied by a mechanical orchestra.
Take a biscuit factory, dismantle it and you can use all the mechanical parts you find to create… a full orchestra including wind, string and percussion sections. It may seem simple, but it probably isn’t. This is the Orquestra mecànica de la França Xica, created by CaboSanRoque, one of the most avant-garde musical ensembles in the city that you will have heard already, at the Sónar festival, for example. Now, CaboSanRoque places his orchestra at the service of four outstanding composers: Carles Santos, Pascal Comelade, Joan Saura and Pierre Bastien. Each will perform a piece illustrating very different ways of composing music. All, however, will put to the test an orchestra without musicians whose interpretive possibilities have recently been extended by the technological changes and the application of the new technologies. Welcome to the future!
