DANCE DAYS uses the varied languages of contemporary dance to transform the city, giving audiences the chance to enjoy a unique and unforgettable moment as public spaces and performance come together once more.
Barcelona, Mataró, Sabadell... you may find a choreographic surprise in any of these three Catalan cities. For public spaces in all three provide the venues for an initiative that invites passers-by to enjoy dance. The programme features short pieces of the highest artistic quality. For example? Flamenco dance by Israel Galván (Spain), dance-performance by Sònia Gómez (Catalonia) and the choreographies of the Japanese artiste Kaori Ito (Japan/France). There are works in all styles and tendencies that explore the interaction between contemporary dance, the public space and the community, such as those by Sol Picó (Catalonia), Cie. Par Terre-Anne Nguyen (France), James Wilton (England), Arthur Bazin and Candelaria Antelo (Spain), Itamar Serussi (Netherlands), Tumàka’t (Mexico), Sachiko Fullita (Peru/Catalonia), La Macana (Cuba/Spain), Shang-Chi Sung (Taiwan/Germany), Lali Ayguadé and Joan Català (England/Catalonia), Aatonitos (Catalonia), Sonia Sánchez (Catalonia) and Compagnie IETO (France), amongst others.
And if you want to be a mere spectator no longer and learn more about dance, the festival programme also includes workshops for the community, led by such dancers and choreographers as Jordi Cortés, Sònia Gómez and Txalo Toloza-Fernández and Olga Sasplugas, as well as evening sessions of dance video at the CCCB.
