A reference figure in contemporary avant-garde rock, David Grubbs was at the head of three projects that practically draw the family tree of American "post-rock" in the mid-nineties: Squirrel Bait, Bastro and Gastr del Sol . He has a splendid solo career with one last episode, An Optimist Notes The Dusk (Drag City, 2008).
