Two mercenaries of dance, two kick-ass fighters, combine dance and humour as they engage in hand-to-hand combat against maturity, a battle in which there is only one winner: the audience.
Having studied Geology at university, Thomas Noone changed motionless minerals for the dynamic body, and trained as a dancer. Soon, he formed his own company, Thomas Noone Dance, which won the City of Barcelona Prize for Dance this year. Along the way, he met up with another choreographer and dancer, Emilio Gutiérrez. Both are around 40 now, but they’re far from finished, and they prove this by conjuring up two characters who symbolise testosterone-filled masculinity: Bruce Lee, no longer with us; and Chuck Norris, now retired. Both characters, however, are still willing to seek out the great truths of contemporary dance as they perform pieces by choreographers that explore movement (Yossi Berg and Oded Graf), find new forms of expression (RootlessRoot) and are at once surprising and disturbing (La Macana).
