The Grec Festival’s first co-production with a local circus is brought to us by the creative brains behind the Circus Klezmer. This time, co-directors Adrián Schvarzstein and Sergi Estebanell have created a major production featuring actors, acrobats, jugglers and a live rock’n’roll band. The story is set in Barcelona – in the red-light district, to be precise – in the 1950s. There, the owner of the Bar Manolo will see the grey, conservative order that he represents turned on its head by the arrival of two US sailors. The bar becomes the scene for a clash between two civilisations in the shape of a party, enlivened by music, at which the audience plays a leading role alongside the actors themselves.
