Maybe you enjoy life, but there are some young people who live it to the full. This is explained in a text created by an essential author in contemporary theatre. You can enjoy this show, which is both real and virtual, in the theatre or at the Rubió i Lluch Gardens.
Le Clou is a Canadian theatre company which is dedicated to creative theatre and aimed especially at younger audiences. In 2012, one of the company's co-directors, Benoît Vermeulen, commissioned Wajdi Mouawad, the Canadian playwright of Lebanese origin, to create a show on the theme of freedom, specifically for younger audiences. Mouawad, the author of such famous and widely-performed works as Incendies, wrote a series of independent scenes that the director and his company subsequently put together. They all speak about young people and give them a voice, although, as always, the dialogue, the forcefulness and the language that the author uses seduce theatre-lovers of all ages. On stage, three adolescents are searching for the beauty and meaning of life. Murdoch, full of anger, detests the world he lives in; Norvège has shut herself away in her room and refuses to come out, and lastly Boon dreams of being a writer and has written a text on beauty and the theatre. In spite of his literary ambitions, he will end up being a coroner in charge of investigating the death of one of his friends from when he was a teenager. What brought these young people together? Could it be their search for a meaning to life? Could it be their thirst for beauty?
The show, which was scheduled this season for the Biblioteca de Catalunya, is finally being performed at the Grec 2020 in a binary format, virtual and real. This means that even though the theatre audience will be smaller, you can also see it (Rubió i Lluch Gardens), thanks to an audiovisual team that will interact with the cast.
A La Perla 29 production, in collaboration with the Barcelona Grec 2020 Festival.
