Desvarío

The Catalan artist, a leading figure in contemporary flamenco dance, is the star of the last day of a festival that will turn the Plaza Major in Nou Barris into a stage, programmed by the El Dorado association in collaboration with the Nou Barris District. Previously, there is a free admission concert by 'cantaora' Anna Colom and Vozes.

Ana Morales is unquestionably one of today’s most creative dancers. Trained in contemporary dance and flamenco, her creations are characterised by the quest for a choreographic discourse that reflects this point in her life: her emotional present runs through all her work. As a result, her shows evolve at the pace of her personal transformations ,in pieces that cross boundaries with other art forms and draw from the technique of improvisation as the seed of movement. She has garnered the most prestigious awards in the flamenco world, such as the Desplante from the Festival de las Minas and the Giraldillo for dance at the 20th Seville Biennial, and received no less than the National Dance Award last year for her ability to create different universes in each performance. For Desvarío, she’s preparing a display of those universes, which she reveals and traverses with the elegance, boldness and intensity that mark everything she does.

Desvarío is the heir to the Flamenc a Nou Barris festival, which was founded in 2000 and came to an end after 17 editions. Now El Dorado S. F. B., in collaboration with Nou Barris District Technical Services, have taken over the management and leadership of the new festival. El Dorado is a cultural association founded in 2007 with the aim of creating a stable venue for the promotion and dissemination of flamenco culture in Barcelona based on an understanding of flamenco as a modern popular art.

A co-production of the Nou Barris District and the El Dorado Sociedad Flamenca de Barcelonesa, with the support of the 2023 Grec Festival of Barcelona.
