Based on the script for Persona, one of the greatest films of the 20th century, and taking the advice of Bergman himself when he urges us to "use his published material freely", we take a collective journey through the emotions of two women searching for their identity.
Love, motherhood, the miseries of the contemporary world, the existential void, theatre as fiction and as lie... A disturbing examination of the soul through an actress, Elisabeth, who becomes mute and retires to a lonely house with her nurse, Alma. This carer fills the actress’s silence with a torrent of words that Elisabeth absorbs in almost vampiric style, as if she were preparing for one of the roles she used to play. The personalities of the two gradually become fused in a relationship that is at times sadistic, at others erotic, and in which we discover the discrepancies between the characters’ actions and their true desires.
