Flamenco jazz, funk and soul, gypsy, pop-soul. You will find all this and more in the programme that a jazz club with a history stretching back more than 50 years has prepared for the 2017 Grec Festival in Barcelona.
Winner of the Filón Flamenco Award at the latest edition of the Festival del Cante de las Minas de La Unión, the pianist and compositor Alfonso Aroca is one of the great revelations on today’s flamenco scene. He comes to the Jamboree with the compositions on his new disc, Orilla del mundo, which he has already performed in Mexico, Costa Rica, France, and at the Dutch Flamenco Biennial. His repertoire symbolizes the place where flamenco music first appeared, Cadiz and its ports, the sea and the aromas that, from Africa, America and the East, converged in Andalusia and opened up to the world.
