Agustí Fernández, one of the Catalan jazz musicians with the greatest international projection, serves up a master class in improv featuring a trio and a very special guest musician.
Albert Cirera and Ramon Prats, aka Duot, joined forces with Agustí Fernández in 2011 to form Liquid Trio, and this year the trio release their first album under the name. All three musicians share a musical practice and aesthetic that is based on the development of improvisation as it is understood today, that is, as a distant descendant of free jazz and the direct heir to contemporary free improv. The refined, rounded rhythms the trio produce provide an excellent example of all that is best in European jazz today. Moreover, in this concert, they are joined by a special guest from the other side of the Atlantic: the guitarist Joe Morris, a contemporary jazz legend who has played alongside Fernández in New York, as well as recording two albums with the Catalan musician. Together, these four revered musicians will provide an evening of the finest modern improv, fusing Catalan and North American musical ideas.
