One of the great Catalan artists in the field of improvised music, who has forged a prestigious international career, celebrates his 60th birthday with a select line-up of the finest musicians from all over the world.
From the United States, from Sweden, from Norway and from Argentina. These are the countries that the exceptional musicians who will accompany Fernández come from. The resulting octet will celebrate the birthday of a musician with over forty years’ experience who has become a key figure in improvised music. This concert will provide a one-off opportunity to watch and hear as some of the most outstanding contemporary improvisers perform together. The ability to listen and react immediately are amongst the essential skills shared by the members of this Celebration Ensemble, which will surprise its Barcelona audience with its enormous, never-to-be-repeated creativity. For nowadays, at a time when the new technologies have made recorded music so easy to obtain, live concerts have regained prominence in all musical genres, but especially in an improvised music, at once wise and revolutionary, that makes each performance a unique event.
