Le mouvement de l’air is a new production by a company that presented Hakanaï and Cinématique last year, showing Barcelona audiences the great potential of digital technology in the performing arts. Whilst in those earlier productions the company made forays into the world of circus, on their return they convert dancers into acrobats that can fly through an electronically-created, dreamlike landscape which becomes practically another character. The acrobatic choreography that the dancers enact, the digital world in which they are submerged and the sounds that accompany them combine on stage to create a unique language as these performers establish new relationships with time and space. In the productions of this innovative company, images leap out from screens to occupy the central space on the stage, just as the performers defy gravity and, without apparent effort, escape the Earth’s forces of attraction to occupy the stage in all its dimensions. All this helps to make this “The Movement of Air” a show of the greatest beauty that combines art and technology so that it is not only the imagination that takes off and flies – the performers do too!
