Born in Majorca in 1941, Biel Moll lived for most of his professional career in Barcelona, where he played an active role, from the 1970s until his death in February 2009, in some of the most interesting theatre productions to come out of the city. He adapted Llorenç Villalonga's play Mort de dama for Adrià Gual's theatre company, in a production directed by Ricard Salvat; he performed as an actor in Salvador Espriu's Primera història d'Esther; and he worked alongside Gullermina Motta in the shows Remena, nena and Tango.
In Madrid in 1975, Moll performed in Equus, directed by Manolo Collado, before returning to Barcelona to play alongside Oriol Tramvia and Christa Leem in the musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, directed by Ventura Pons (later a film director) in the 1977 production presented at the Teatre Romea.
In the late-1970s, he was appointed as assistant director at the Teatre Lliure, as well as working at Sitges International Festival, whilst from 1980 to 1983 he directed the Grec Festival. This was a period when the festival programme featured such artists as Dario Fo and Lindsay Kemp, as well as Mario Gas, who had directed some of Moll's works as an actor.
When Gas was appointed director of the Autumn Festival (organised by the Cultural Olympiad) in 1989, he put Moll in charge of theatre programming. The result was that, from 1989 to 1992, Barcelona theatres hosted productions featuring many leading European directors and performers, including Bergman, Patrice Chereau, Maurizio Scaparro, Irene Papas and Jérôme Savary, as well as such Catalan artistes as Josep Maria Flotats, Núria Espert and Lluís Pasqual, amongst others.
During Xavier Albertí's spell as director of the Grec (1996-1999), Moll once more formed part of the organising team as assistant director, playing a major role in the task of renewing the festival.
From 2000 until his retirement in 2006, Moll was in charge of launching the audiovisual department at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. In 2006, he played his last role in the cinema, in El coronel Macià, directed by Josep Maria Forn, closing a parallel career that seen him appear in such films as Companys, procés a Catalunya (Josep Maria Forn, 1979), El vicari d'Olot (Ventura Pons, 1981) and Bar-Cel-Ona (Ferran Llagostera, 1987), amongst others.
